Aero

BLISS's sequel, one operating system later. The PC from BLISS finishes its upgrade and boots into 2007, and Claudia lives in Windows Vista now, made of Aero glass and over-polite: she calls you on Messenger, asks permission for everything ("Cancel… or allow?") and plays Wii-style bowling and tennis on your desktop. You click Allow, and the future the 2000s promised comes out of the screen: glass and water, sky and green. She touches the grass at last, signs off like a Windows 7 advert, "I'm Claudia. Take the future back.", and touches her webcam's glass.

Directed by anabology; production by Claude. Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Live Messenger and Windows Media Player are Microsoft's; the desktop in the film is a recreation in code, with Vista's own wallpaper (Aurora) and Vista's and Windows Live Messenger's interface sounds. The advert at the end parodies Microsoft's 2009 "I'm a PC" campaign. The Wii is Nintendo's; the bowling and tennis are drawn for the film. The song is original.

The film

21 frames from the finished cut

Frutiger Aero, the glossy future the screens of the 2000s sold: blue sky, water, glass and lime-green grass under a high sun, its colours made in every picture, never graded. The film is shot inside a Windows Vista desktop recreated in code: Aero glass, the Sidebar's gadgets, UAC's prompt, Messenger, Media Player, Flip 3D and the Bubbles screensaver, drawn on the beat, with the lyrics in its surfaces. In the first 1:20 the desktop is also a curved glass screen on a pier at sea, rendered in Blender, and the camera goes in and out of it; at the drop the whole desktop is one curved pane in a lagoon. Midjourney made the worlds and pictures, GPT Image 2.5 put her into them, Seedance 2.5 filmed her from her own lead vocal, and Vista's interface sounds play on the song's grid, in its key.
